Magic’s final game Mike’s Last Dance was the show, and it was fun to watch the process and its inevitable ups and downs until everything else started happening. Mike and Maxandra were at their best here, not in the things that went on behind the scenes. It was a journey of self-rediscovery for Mike, where he found meaning and embraced his true passion, and it was easy to see how it changed him. Even though the story as a whole wasn’t quite right, it would have been nice to have more of these scenes. The dancing and dancing scenes were some of the best parts of the movie. It was amazing to see how much talent was on display and how hard people worked to show it in a beautiful way on screen. Even more over the top was how creative the choreography was. All of that led up to the last show and the most exciting part of the movie, which is sure to get some people excited.
Even though Magic Mike’s Last Dance has a thin plot, Tatum and Hayek’s performances as Mike and Maxandra are what make the movie work in the end. Their chemistry saves the movie, but at the end of the day, it’s clear that Mike’s movie, since Tatum’s charm hasn’t changed a bit. One can’t help but be drawn into his latest journey and connect with his passion, but his lack of range and the fact that he didn’t have much going on make it hard to feel anything. Hayek, on the other hand, was just as fiery as she always is, and she and Tatum worked well together. She was stuck with a character who wasn’t very interesting and a story that wasn’t very interesting, so she was mostly just there, which is a shame because she deserves better.
